Lifetouch also does generational photography. It’s a great opportunity to get the family together for one big portrait! Capture the memories for a lifetime! Don’t Forget…To Bring Your Pet! Do you have a special little furry friend at home? We want to encourage you to bring him/her with you for your portrait session!

Ministry of the Month
Social Justice Ministry Team
The Social Justice Ministry Team meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. "The LORD has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8)

Ash Wednesday & Lent
February 22, 2012 Ash Wednesday Worship at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.
Wednesday Lenten services - 11:00 am and 7:00 pm through March 28.


Lenten Suppers & Luncheons
Wednesdays in Lent, beginning February 22, Ash Wednesday, lunch will be served following 11:00 am worship, and supper will be served at 5:30 pm. Please consider hosting/organizing a meal and sign up on the sheet on the Narthex bulletin board. First come, first served for dates!

Community Garden
Several individuals are needed to tend the garden area this year. The size will remain the same. Proceeds are shared with the Stoughton Food Pantry, Covenant members and garden workers. Interested in helping with the planning, planting, watering, weeding or harvesting? Contact the church office.

Youth: 30 Hour Famine
February 24-25
Worldwide, 925 million people are hungry. Every day as many as 11,000 children under age 5 die due to hunger-related causes. Every year, hundreds of thousands of students do the 30 Hour Famine, sponsored by World Vision. They go without food for 30 hours, learn what it takes to overcome hunger, and raise funds to help feed hungry children and families around the world. They refuse to be told they can’t make a difference.
On February 24-25 a group of Covenant youth will participate in this event. For more information, click here.

Foundation Scholarship Committee

Bryant Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships for the academic year 2012 are offered in Stoughton and other communities where Nelson Industries had manufacturing plants. For information contact the church office.

Communion Instruction
Communion Instruction for all 5th graders plus their parents, as well as any who are interested in learning more about communion and what it means to be Lutheran, begins Sunday, March 4 during the education hour. We will meet March 4, 11 and 25.

Commissioning of our Parish Nurse
Everyone is personally invited to attend the commissioning of our Parish Nurse, Sue Richards on Sunday, February 26 at 10:30 am worship.

2012 Youth & Adult
Wilderness Experience

We are offering a youth event for 8th grade through High School ages, as well as adults, in the Boundary Wilderness Canoe Area for one week the last week of July or first week of August. Library
We’re “weeding” out our library and have pulled all the VHS tapes for this week. They are free. Free-will donations are welcome and will be used to update our library.

Scholarship Applications Due Date
The Covenant Endowment Foundation scholarship applications are due into the church office by March 15, 2012. Applications are located on the kiosk at the back of the sanctuary.

Seder Meal Planning
Interested in helping with the 2012 Seder Meal, (Wednesday, April 4, 2012)? Please attend an organizational meeting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 28 in the Covenant narthex/gathering area. If you would like to help, but are not able to attend the meeting, please contact the church office.

Team Haiti Presentation
Saturday, March 10 at 4:30 pm
Adult Education Room Downstairs

Former Team Haiti members will be available to answer questions and share their experiences from their trip to Haiti in November, 2010. We welcome anyone interested in exploring the possibility of going back to Haiti in early 2013. If there are any high school youth (16 or older) interested, we suggest a parent attend the meeting with them.

2012 Adult Service/Mission Trip
In November six members of Covenant joined Pastor George for a service/mission trip to Nashville. They have expressed interest in another service/mission trip in 2012. Pastor George has contacted Lutheran Disaster Response in North Dakota. He received this letter which he shares with all of us at Covenant: (click here to download). Plans need to begin this month for us to serve in ND late this spring or early summer. Those who served on Covenant‘s LDR Team in 2011 will happily share their perspectives. The cost of lodging with the meals included is $20/person. If you have any interest or want to learn more, contact Pastor George (576-4916 or pastor-george@chorus.net) or speak to a 2011 team member. A meeting will be scheduled for later in January.

2012 Offering Envelopes
Offering envelopes are now in the family mailboxes in the hall. If you do not have envelopes, please contact the church office.

2012 Flower Chart

The 2012 Flower Chart is now up on the bulletin board in the narthex. The cost of altar flowers is $22.50.


Transportation Assistance

Providing transportation for those under 55. Coordinating efforts to assist people with appointments, special needs, transportation to the Madison Bus depot or Job Assistant within Dane County. Covenant is looking for interested Volunteer Drivers willing to spend a few hours a week helping another in need. Requirements include a background check, proof of driver’s license and record of driving over the past couple of years. If you are interested, we will see that you get an application.

Quilters
Tuesdays at 8:30 am
Quilters meet each Tuesday at 8:30 am. You do not need to be a “quilter,” just the desire to help someone less fortunate than ourselves. Bring a friend. The more the merrier!
